Learning Goals Here are the learning goals for the first year of instruction using Sound & Sight. I will identify the parts of my instrument, indicate the proper care of my instrument, and define the terms: “solfège,” “meter pat,” “simple meter,” “embouchure,” and “articulation” I will demonstrate the correct articulation technique on my instrument. I will identify and perform basic rhythms in simple meter by counting and clapping. I will identify pitches in short melodies using the solfege Do-Re-Mi. I will perform “Mary Had a Little Lamb.” I will perform the correct tonguing and slurring technique on my instrument. I will perform (concert) B♭-C-D from melodic notation. I will identify and notate Do-Re-Mi melodies using melodic notation. I will perform simple meter rhythms from rhythmic notation. I will identify and notate simple meter rhythms using rhythmic notation. I will perform Do-Re-Mi melodies in simple meter from musical notation. I will identify and notate Do-Re-Mi melodies in simple meter. I will identify pitches with pentatonic solfege. I will identify the meter in several melodies as simple or compound.
